Dr. Peter Stephenson MB BS, FRACP

Company Director, Gastroenterologist

Dr. Peter Stephenson, GastroenterologistMontserrat Day Hospitals is the vision of Dr. Stephenson who has been a specialist physician since 1972 and a registered Gastroenterologist since 1978 when he went into private practice. Peter has a large practice in Brisbane and in 2004 alone carried out over 2000 endoscopic procedures. Peter has procedure lists and consults from all Montserrat Day Hospitals, and is trained in the provision of small bowel capsule endoscopy services.


Dr. Derwin Willams MB BS, FRACP

Gastroenterologist

Dr. Derwin Willams, GastroenterologistA Melbourne graduate, Derwin gained his Gastroenterological qualifications in 1979. His extensive career in Gastroenterology led to previous appointments as Senior Clinical Lecturer and Deputy Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide. He has been in private practice for many years. Derwin has procedure lists and consults from our Indooroopilly site as well as from rooms at Ipswich.


Dr. Tony Leece MB BS, FRACS

General Surgeon

Dr. Tony LeeceTony graduatd with MBBS Honours in 1981. He completed his surgical training at the Mater Hospitals located in South Brisbane in 1990 and gained accreditation in Endoscopy in 1991. After several years of surgical and endoscopy work in coastal New South Wales he returned to work in Brisbane in 1994. Tony has practiced in general surgery and endosocpy thoughout his career with a focus on colorectal and anti- reflux surgery. Tony has procedure lists at all Montserrat Day Hospitals.


Dr. Mark Norrie BHB, MB ChB, Phd, FRACP

Gastroenterologist

Dr. Mark Norrie, GastroenterologistMark is a Gastroenterologist who commenced with Montserrat Day Hospitals in 2003. He graduated with his MBChB in 1988 and has completed a PhD at the University of New South Wales in molecular biology looking at gene methylation in colorectal carcinoma. Mark has procedure lists and consults from our Spring Hill and Indooroopilly facilities and is trained in the provision of small bowel capsulte endoscopy. Mark also continues to practice two days each week in the Public Health System.


Dr. Cliona Maguire MB ChB, BAO, MRCPI, FRACP

Gastroenterologist

Dr. Cliona Maguire, GastroenterologistCliona graduated from University College Dublin in 1988 and commenced her training in Gastroenterology in Dublin in 1992. She spent a year doing clinical research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and completed her training at the Princess Alexandra and Mater Adult Hospitals in Brisbane. She became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 1999 and commenced working at Montserrat Day Hospitals in 2000. Cliona has procedure lists at all Montserrat Day Hospitals and consults from our Gaythorne and Spring Hill sites.


A/Professor Andrew Renaut MS(Lond), FRCS(Gen), FRACS, FDSRCS

Colonoscopy

Associate Professor Andrew Renaut, ColonoscopyAndrew is a specialist colorectal surgeon. His undergraduate and postgraduate trainings were undertaken predominantly in London and was completed with a fellowship year in Sydney together with a dedicated period of research resulting in a masters of surgery and a thesis entitled ‘immune mechanisms in cancer’. He moved to Brisbane in 2005 having spent the previous 5 years in Christchurch where he gained extensive experience in laparoscopic colorectal surgery. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Bond University Medical School on the Gold Coast, has private rooms at St Andrew’s Place in Spring Hill and operates at St Andrew’s Hospital.


Dr Sandra Park

Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy

Dr Sandra Park, Colonoscopy and GastroscopyDr Sandra Park has joined Montserrat as our second female Gastroenterologist. After graduating from the University of Sydney in 1993, Sandra commenced her internship at Concord Hospital and progressed on to complete her Advanced training in Gastroenterology at the Prince of Wales Hospital in 2000. Sandra then spent some time conducting research at the UNSW and then entered private practice in 2004 working at the Buderim Gastroenterology Centre on the Sunshine Coast.

Sandra has been involved in several publications relating to Pancreatic stellate cell migration research and has presented at conferences on the topic of Pancreatic Stellate cell disease.
