Pre-admission clinic
Appointments: (07) 3833 6701
The Pre-admission Clinic was established in March 2005 with an aim to provide thorough and dignified patient care commencing prior to their proposed procedure continuing through to admission.
The two main aims of the Pre-admission Clinic are to:
- Effectively prepare the patient for their procedure through education
- Meet the legal requirements for informed consent.
The clinic provides the opportunity and time for patients to discuss the proposed procedure prior to being asked to give implicit consent.
The Pre-Admission process involves:
- The patient receiving advice on such issues as medications based on current hospital policy
- Provision of the appropriate preparation solution for colonoscopy - based on the patient's medical history
- Checking the patient's insurance eligibility and explanation of the patient's financial obligations
- Consent to procedure
- Confirmation of appointment dates and times
- Provision of upcoming procedure details on the process he/she will be going through during their admission.
The Pre-Admission Co-ordinator is Vicki Day. Vicki is a Level 2 Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Nursing and 9 years surgical ward experience. Prior to commencing employment with Montserrat Day Hospitals she was involved in the provision of nursing care and management support. Her particular interests lie in the administrative and legal aspects of healthcare such as documentation and consent. Vicki hopes the Pre-Admission Clinic, and her role, will contribute positively to the ongoing success of Montserrat Day Hospitals.
