Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS) - Accreditation
Quality of service is paramount and accordingly there is constant review of practices and protocols to ensure that the most up to date techniques are followed. Extensive benchmarking with other facilities, overseas and within Australia, together with educational trips abroad ensure the latest and the best practices are employed. Continually achieving hospital accreditation with the ACHS ensures Montserrat Day Hospitals are improving the quality and standard of health care provided. The ACHS continually reviews performance, conducts assessment and provides Accreditation.
All freestanding Day Hospitals are required to be accredited. Accreditation is a program set up by the ACHS. A survey team reviews all services and departments against specific standards, as published in the ACHS Accreditation Guide. A report is then compiled by the ACHS and 2-4 year accreditations are awarded.
Montserrat Day Hospitals have undertaken the Accreditation process twice, and have just completed their third cycle in July 2005. The accreditation certificate signifies a standard of excellence. These results are dependant on the activities of the facility staff and their complete involvement in patient care and continuous improvement in the services delivered. All quality activities as outlined by the ACHS are monitored by the senior management team.
The concept of continuing education is an integral component of the policies developed by Montserrat Day Hospitals where staff regularly attend relevant seminars and workshops. All staff within the hospital are required to attend 20 hours of continuing education annually.
